Sonny Jim & Wizard - The Executive Branch

One of the Uk's most underrated rappers and one of the Uk's most creative producers have teamed together to bring us a very good project. My major criticism is its only got 5 tracks BUT as they say always leave the audience wanting more and I for one definitely want more.

Phoenix Da Ice Fire - Quantum Leap

                          

Its seems like forever since we had Phoenix Da Ice Fire at Life Fm, when we started doing radio shows again. At the time he had just released the Baptism Under Fire mix tape and was telling us he was working on an album and it was coming soon. 

That was about 2 years ago BUT i must say it was worth the wait. Quantum Leap is the kind of project you rarely hear from UK artists. It is a work of Hip Hop art you can tell Phoenix Da Ice Fire has taken his time making it and thought about every track on it. 

There are no super beats to distract you from the lyrics and altho the beats are quiet basic (Compared to todays releases) they will still have you nodding your head through out the album. 

Quantum Leap shines due to the advanced and in-depth lyrical ability of Phoenix Da Ice Fire, his content varies on nearly every track for example there is the track Artists where he talks about the difference between an Mc and an artist, Therapy he talks about the troubles he had in his earlier life and Karma Sutra well, that ones self explanatory. My point is no track sounds the same which again for some reason is not the done thing these days. Not only does Phoenix Da Ice Fire deliver lyrically he has also got some of the finest rappers from the UK and the Us. Features include Klashnekoff and Keith Murray (on the same track) Skirblah, Cyrus Malachi, Kyza and Rusty Juxx to name a few.

This is a very good album and for only £5.99 you cant go wrong. I can see my self in years to come finding it in my extensive CD collection and wanting to hear it again.

Haze The Truth - Loyalty Honour Respect

This has been released as a "Mix Tape" well for me its NOT Loyalty Honour Respect is better than most of the albums ive heard in the last few years, from any where. All original beats and a feature list that could make any rapper at least slightly envious. (Blade Brown, Akala, Mike GLC, Swiss, Smiler, LowKey and Ghetts to name a few)

Loyalty Honour Respect offers a balanced mixture of street music and a conscious sound so you can play it  what ever mood you are in. With 21 FREE tracks (How can this be a mix tape with 21 original tracks) I suggest you take advantage of Haze's generosity as I will not be surprised if the next release was for sale.

Ruthless - The Archaeology Take Over - Produced By Red Skull

Ruthless & Red Skull have teamed up to give us this very impressive FREE mix tape. Ruthless is a deep thinking rapper. You will NOT hear him constantly rapping about the cliche rap agendas such as Women (in a derogatory way) Money and jewellery.
Instead Ruthless gives us "real life lyrics" he talks about life issues we can all relate to such as the state the country is in. He covers the struggles with in his life such as family and an illness he has had to deal with since he was young.

These deep thoughtful lyrics are complemented even more with production from RedSkull. Who has been putting in a lot of work over the last few years. He has worked with many artists such as Joe Black and K Koke (who mainly cater for the street element of Hip Hop). To Akala and LowKey who mainly cater for the conscious element of Hip-Hop. Working with artists from such varied backgrounds Red Skull is able to produce beats with out caging him self in box, Which I believe will help him to become one of the most successful produces in the scene.

I highly recommend The Archaeology. It is a mix tape that will get you thinking about life as well as entertain you for weeks to come.

I was recently browsing the internet in search of some new material for the radio show, When i came across this gem.

Most know him as English Frank but a few years ago he was actually known as Frantic Frank that is the only major difference. There is obviously an improvement in his current ability from then to now. But he still touches on topics with the passion he has in his current music and he had the quick delivery but you can hear every word. With a young (at the time) Mic Righteous also featured on this project it is definitely worth a purchase. Grand Central - God Loves Grinder Vol 2[Free Mixtape]

On Boxing day Grand Central gave UK Hip Hop fans some bitter, sweet news. 'God Loves Grinders Vol 2' was released for FREE download, (CLICK HERE To Get Your Copy Now!) but it came with the sad news that the duo have decided to go their separate ways! Mr Drastick & Kinetik have remained on good terms, and I'm sure we will see them work together again in the future, but the group Grand Central is no more. 2 Skinny Guys And A Blog would like to wish them both the best,  and thank them for the high volume of good music they produced while working together. We will of course continue to support and promote their individual music, so make sure you don't count either of these artists out!

Each track on the EP represents great UK Hip Hop, as we have come to expect from all of these artists. My personal favourite though, would have to 'Down In The Streets 2011'. I can honestly say I was moved by that song as a piece of music, and would definitely rank it in my Top 10 UK Hip Hop tracks of all time.
